SHADOW OF THE DARK GODDESS

Welcome to your shadow.  You are invited to participate in a full lunar month online journey travelling with the dark goddess. 

Who Are The Dark Goddesses?

The dark goddesses have existed forever in all parts of the world at different times.  They come from traditions that understand there is a balance between the light and the dark and that each aspect is powerful in its own place.  There is a time to worship the goddesses of the light when we are prosperous and giving thanks for our blessings.  But who do we turn to in times of deep grief, when our world has turned to ashes, and our lives have been destroyed?

It has been many thousands of years since the goddess was worshipped in temples across the lands.  Our christianised teachings have outlawed the goddess, purging the divine feminine from the world, and we have ached for the arms of the loving mother to embrace us in our times of darkness and pain. 

When we invoke the dark goddesses into our lives, we invite her chaos to break down the carefully constructed facades we hide behind, with the intent of seeking transformation.  Here there are no structured signposts or maps to guide the journey.  We enter into the darkness of the subconscious, where symbols become our guide, where truths are exposed in dreams, where the mirror can reveal aspects of self we’ve never encountered before.

As we journey into the depths of the underworld, we surrender our control and invite the myths and stories of the goddesses to guide us to what we need to reveal, or understand, or embrace, or forgive.  Here there is no structure, just a willingness to investigate the deeply buried parts of the self, our wounds that have been left to fester and trust in the dark goddess to show us our individual path to healing and growth.

You must be ready to embark on this journey with the dark goddess for she will tear down the structures in your life that no longer serve you.  This is almost always painful, but it’s also the gift of freedom you give yourself.  You will transform at an unprecedented rate when you work with the Shadow of the Dark Goddesses.

The Goddesses

The dark goddesses we will work with in this workshop:

• Medusa – the terrifying monster with serpents for hair who screams the rage of the wounded feminine
• Kali – the Hindu mother goddess, destroyer of the ego
• The Morrighan – the Celtic goddess of war that mediates the journey from life to death
• Lilith – represents the shadow side of feminine sexuality
• Sekhmet – Egyptian warrior goddess of destruction
• Hekate – the threefold Moon Goddess connected with witches, magic and feminine wisdom
• Inanna / Ereshkigal – Inanna, Queen of Heaven & Earth journeys to meet her sister Ereshkigal, Queen of the underworld
• The Crone – she is the dark of the moon, the hidden one, scorned and reviled
• Baba Yaga / Hag – her bony grasp leads you to transformation and rebirth
• Persephone – kidnapped Greek Queen of the Underworld supports healing from violent and sexual abuse

Each of these goddesses represents a shadow or underworld aspect that will help mirror to you behaviours or beliefs that you can identify in yourself. We will invite them to journey with us to reveal their secrets and offer their healing. Which one speaks to you already?

We will begin the journey together on the dark of the moon 3 January 2022 (southern hemisphere) in the sign of Capricorn, and I will hold space for a full lunar month. You will choose which goddess to work with and receive via email throughout the month written information and instructions, guided meditations, prayers, invocations and webinar teachings to guide you on an underworld journey which will see you recognise and face your shadow, learn how to integrate the behaviours and love back to wholeness the parts of you that are presently hidden in the dark.

How this course is structured

The first step is to choose a shadow goddess to journey with.

This course will run for a full lunar month from one dark moon to the next, giving you the appropriate time to connect with your shadow goddess and form a relationship with her. This also provides you with enough time to begin to observe how the shadow works in your life, as you become conscious of your interaction with family and friends and work colleagues.

We will all start on the dark moon of 3 January 2022 where you will first receive information on your goddess, on the creation of your altar space, and begin to become acquainted with the attributes of the shadow goddess you have chosen to work with. [The Christmas break is a great time to spend in this immersion of self as you observe shadow behaviours in relation to family members and friends].

Part I

You will receive your first instructions to begin working with your goddess. In this first two weeks leading up to the full moon, you will become familiar with your goddess, learn her stories and myths, find her symbols and animals and collect the items necessary to create your altar from which you will invoke her. I will provide you with instructions on how to assemble and tend your altar and information on how to best make use of this fortnight before invocation to become aware of your shadow behaviours, and help you to uncover the beliefs and activities that can run your life, most quite unconsciously. This will familiarise you with your goddess and allow you to begin the relationship that will support an underworld journey where you will become conscious of, heal and love back to wholeness those hidden aspects that cause disruption in your everyday life.

Part II

Then on the full moon of 18 January 2022 you will formally invoke your goddess, not that she hasn’t been journeying with you already.

I will provide you with prayers of invocation and then with a waning moon, two weeks before the dark, you will call in her energy to work with you.  Through prayers and summoning, you will create a relationship with goddess wherein She will reveal over the coming fortnight aspects of yourself that you have yet to meet.  You will also be required to do some writing and answer some questions so that you fully engage with your goddess during that time.

Please note this is powerful work we do when we summon the goddess to work with us and it is not to be undertaken lightly.  When we call her, She comes.  Know that when we work with the shadow we uncover aspects of ourselves that like the hag herself, are hideous and which cause us our deepest pain.  Make sure before you embark on this journey that you wish to go there, for when you summon any of these goddesses, be prepared for radical changes to be wrought in your life.

Part III

On the dark of the moon I will forward you two recordings which will be guided meditations. The first will bring you face to face with your shadow. There will be some written exercises to complete and then the second guided meditation will see you descend into the underworld to meet your dark goddess. This will complete a process which will help you to not only recognise your main shadow behaviours, but give you tools to integrate and make conscious the limiting power of your shadow.

Other information:

When we work with the shadow be prepared to face those aspects of yourself that you may not even be aware of.  Know that while this workshop will take place over a full lunar month, the goddess does not work to our calendar.  When you summon Her, she may need to reveal aspects that take many months to uncover and so this is an opportunity to commence a process that will unfold more fully in time.

The Goddess and Your Sacred Pleasure

This upcoming weekend retreat – “The Goddess and Your Sacred Pleasure” – is an invitation to journey with the goddess into our bodies to awaken our pleasure and discover how sacred we truly are.

The Magdalene Mystery School teachings

Mary Magdalene represents the Sacred Feminine and the essence of strength from within, connection to Divine Source, gentle kindness and the wisdom to act from inner Divinity. Many of us find ourselves being called to honour the Sacred Feminine in our own lives and Mary Magdalene shows us the way that Goddess speaks to us through her divine spirit and love.

The Womb Portal

Then we shall work with energetically clearing your Womb. The womb is the source of your essence as a Woman.  Naturally, it holds all that you are and can be, both sexually and creatively.  Whether you are aware of it or not, the Womb supports, informs and nourishes your every move, your every breath, and every emotion, with Love.  One of the barriers to accessing this wisdom is energetic blockages that retain body memories either physically or emotionally around mistrust of the masculine, sex without love, abortions or miscarriages, birthing traumas or physical violence.  This energetic block remains until it is released and loved back to wholeness, allowing for the opening and free flow of energy to return to the womb centre.

Then, while being held in safe meditational space, we will invoke the goddess to assist us to shamanically journey in through the yoni and the cervix, the sacred gateway to the womb, and then we will begin to clear. We will access numerous different scenarios that may or may not carry an emotional charge and by calling on our divine healing intelligence, we will clear and release these energetic blocks as they arise.

Inana Gathering Space is a gorgeous private property which contains a beautiful temple space where we will all sleep together as one. To keep costs down, the meals will be catered, but you will be asked to bring along a food item from the list provided which our amazing cook Rosemarie will turn into nourishing and sumptuous meals.

The weekend will be full of ritual and ceremony, and on the Saturday night we will circle under a waxing moon around the fire, calling on the goddess to ignite our passions.
